Which Disneyland Resort park should you visit?

Disneyland Resort in Anaheim has two theme parks: Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. Your choice of park shapes the day, so check the attractions and park hours before settling on a date.

Disney California Adventure is home to rides including Radiator Springs Racers and Toy Story Midway Mania!, while Disneyland Park is the other park in the resort.

If you have Park Hopper admission and the required reservation, you may be able to switch parks on the same day. Park hopping is subject to availability, capacity, operating hours, closures and other restrictions, so don’t build a tight schedule around a switch without checking the latest rules.

Getting from Garden Grove to the resort

Disneyland Resort is about a 12-minute drive from Harbor Inn & Suites to Radiator Springs Racers. That gives you a practical starting point for arranging transport, but the resort’s parking and pick-up details matter once you arrive.

If you’re flying into Ontario International Airport, see this guide to ONT airport transportation to Garden Grove for related transfer planning.

If you drive, theme-park parking locations open 60 minutes before the earliest standard park opening time. From the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures, trams carry guests to the Main Entrance Esplanade between Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park.

For a taxi or rideshare, use the official pick-up and drop-off locations at the theme parks or Downtown Disney District. At the Downtown Disney District drop-off area, standard parking rates apply after the 15-minute grace period. You can’t park or leave a vehicle unattended in pick-up and drop-off areas.

Tickets, reservations and park hours

Guests age 3 and older need valid admission and a park reservation for the same park and date. If you’re planning a multi-day visit, you need a reservation for each day. Reservations are limited, depend on availability, blockout dates and park capacity, and aren’t guaranteed until finalized.

Disney makes reservations available for select dates on a rolling basis. Reservation windows may differ for theme park tickets and Magic Key passes, so check availability before you settle on travel plans. If you’re considering Park Hopper admission, confirm the rules and availability for the date you plan to visit.

Park hours can vary by park and day. Use Disney’s Park Hours calendar and Disneyland app to check the latest schedule before planning arrival times, meals or a park switch.

Planning a day at Disneyland Park

Start by confirming the reservation for Disneyland Park, then use Disney’s current hours to decide when to arrive and how to pace the day. The resort has more than one park, but a reservation is tied to a specific park and date; don’t assume admission alone covers entry.

If you’re parking at one of the theme-park structures, factor in the tram ride to the Main Entrance Esplanade. That shared entrance area sits between the two parks, making it the point to keep in mind if your admission allows a same-day park switch. Any switch remains subject to the day’s operating hours, capacity and other restrictions.

What to know about Disney California Adventure

What to know about Disney California Adventure

Disney California Adventure is one of the resort’s two theme parks. It includes Cars Land and Radiator Springs Racers, as well as Toy Story Midway Mania! and other attractions. Check the park’s hours and your reservation before deciding how much time to set aside here.

If you have Park Hopper admission, you may be able to visit both parks on one day with the appropriate reservation. The ability to switch depends on availability, capacity, operating hours, closures and other restrictions. Check the current terms rather than treating hopping as guaranteed.

Ride planning and current attraction details

Before building a route around a particular ride, check its current listing. Disney says attractions can be modified or unavailable, may have capacity limits, and can change or be cancelled without notice. An online attraction listing doesn’t confirm that a ride is operating at a particular time.

  • Radiator Springs Racers: This Disney California Adventure attraction has a minimum height requirement of 40 inches (102 cm). Its listing identifies designated transfer and load areas and says guests must transfer from a wheelchair or ECV.
  • Toy Story Midway Mania!: Disney lists this as an all-ages attraction with no height requirement. Its listing identifies designated transfer and load areas and says guests must transfer from an ECV to a wheelchair.

Disney also lists Lightning Lane Passes as an option for skipping the standby line at select rides. Check the official details and current attraction information before deciding whether to include a pass in your plans.

Food, breaks and accessibility

The available attraction details include access information for Radiator Springs Racers and Toy Story Midway Mania!, including their designated transfer and load areas. Review the current listings before you go if transfer arrangements affect your plans.

For breaks and meal timing, use the current park hours and app to shape the day rather than relying on a fixed schedule. Operating hours vary, and attraction availability can change, so leave room to adjust your plans. For another Garden Grove outing to plan, see the guide to visiting the Discovery Science Center.

Returning to Garden Grove after the parks

Before leaving, check where your ride or taxi should collect you. Use the official theme-park or Downtown Disney District pick-up locations, and don’t leave a vehicle unattended in a pick-up or drop-off area. If you parked at Mickey & Friends or Pixar Pals, the tram route connects those structures with the Main Entrance Esplanade.

Before you go: Check the official Disneyland Resort site before you go for current reservations, park hours, transportation details and attraction availability.
